Chloroplast

Chloroplast (aka. Food producer)

What is the function of the chloroplast?

Chloroplasts are the food producers of the cell.  They capture (take in) the energy of sunlight and use that to make sugars or food for the cell.  Chloroplasts are the site of photosythesis, the process by which plants use sunlight to make chemical energy used by the cell.

What part of the cell does the chloroplast represent?

Think about our school.  Where in the school do you go to get food?
